Vijayapura: At a time when the society is witnessing several communal incidents and some divisive forces are making every effort to destroy communal fabric, a girl has shouldered a bigger responsibility on her young shoulders to unite the society and spread the message of peace.

Komal Patil a nineteen-year-old girl of Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district has already travelled over 6,000 km on her motorcycle alone to achieve this mission of peace and harmony.

With the slogan, ‘one nation, we all are one, Komal started her mission on March 8, which is International Women’s Day.

Having reached Vijayapura a couple of days ago, she has already covered Hubballi, Pune, Mumbai, Vadodara, Udaipur, Delhi, Agra, Indore, Aurangabad, Solapur. She plans to visit Bagalkot and Gadag before ending her mission in her home district.

Doing her engineering in the department of mechanical from BVB Engineering College in Hubballi, Komal said that she received immense support from her parents who encouraged her to launch the mission.

Covering around 500 to 700 kilometres every day, Komal said that she never felt insecure about being a girl while riding her motorcycle alone during her journey.

“ All along my mission, I was riding with full confidence and a strong will”, she said.

Claiming that her journey helped her to understand the diversity of India in a far better manner, she said that she met different people who helped her during the mission.

Regretting that over the years, the cases of youths are facing several psychological issues, she said that her objective through the mission was to spread awareness about this critical aspect.

“ Besides this, one more serious issue is the increasing number of road accidents in the country. People are not serious about the safety of their lives. I wanted to spread awareness about road safety through my mission”, she said and added that after completion of her mission, she plans one more such trip in future.
