Kolkata: In an incident of alleged political vendetta, eight people were charred to death in a village in West Bengal's Birbhum district soon after the murder of a local TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh on Monday. CID team reached West Bengal to investigate the incident.
After the fire incident in Birbhum, local people leave their homes and move to other places. "We are leaving the houses, in view of security. My brother-in-law died in the incident. Had there been security by the Police, this incident wouldn't have happened." said a villager to ANI.
Kunal Ghosh, State General Secretary, TMC, alleged that the village (Rampurhat) didn't have a history of political tensions. He suspected it to be a larger conspiracy to disturb TMC and Bengal. Those rejected by people are doing dead-body politics. They murdered our leader and created tension, he added.
"Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured us that he will seek a report of the Birbhum incident in 72 hours, post which a team will go there to review the law and order situation. Mamata Banerjee should be held accountable, she's the CM. She should resign from her post", said Sukanta Majumdar, West Bengal, BJP.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee urged Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar "to refrain from making unwarranted statements and allow the administration to conduct an impartial probe."
