AbbaJaan and HamareAbbaJaan storm Twitter

Bengaluru: Tweeple have flooded the microblogging platform Twitter with the hashtags AbbaJaan and HamareAbbaJaan and pictures of their fathers in response to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's remark on politics centred around the minority community.

At an event in Kushinagar on Sunday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised the previous governments for what he said was “politics of appeasement” and said that before 2017, those saying “abba jaan” used to get ration meant for the poor.

Yogi Adityanath was addressing a public meeting in Kushinagar on Sunday in preparation for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

One Mr. Kaushik Raj, poet and writer, took to Twitter to urge others to participate in the trend. He tweeted, "My language might be different but it means the same. Abba Jaan, Papa both are same. We can't let a Chief Minister demean something as beautiful as Abba Jaan. Please don't ignore this. Participate in this trend."
