Baby elephant named after Puneeth Rajkumar
As a tribute to the late actor fondly known as 'Power Star' Puneeth Rajkumar, a baby elephant in Karnataka has been named after the actor.
Bengaluru: As a tribute to the late actor fondly known as 'Power Star' Puneeth Rajkumar, a baby elephant in Karnataka has been named after the actor.
It is said that the actor, colloquially known as Appu, visited Sakrebailu elephant camp in the Shivamogga district before his death. Puneeth Rajkumar, 46, Sandalwood'd top actor and the youngest of the five children of matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on 30 October.
"The elephant is named Puneeth Raj Kumar to pay tribute to him", Deputy Conservator of Forest (Shivamogga wildlife division), Nagaraj told news agency ANI.
The Sakrebyle Elephant Camp is a forest camp for captive elephants in Karnataka. The camp is situated at a distance of 14 km from Shimoga on the Shimoga-Thirthahalli Road, it is considered to be the best camp for training elephants in the state. The camp is maintained by the Karnataka Forest Department. The Sakrebyle Elephant Camp attracts wildlife enthusiasts and tourists alike. It is one of those ecotourism centres in the state that offers general people an opportunity to look at the huge tuskers from close quarters.
