Ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won all four assembly seats that went into bypolls on October 30. The constituencies of Dinhata, Khardaha, Gosaba (SC), and Santipur went into bypolls on October 30.

Kolkata: Ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has won all four assembly seats that went into bypolls on October 30. The constituencies of Dinhata, Khardaha, Gosaba (SC), and Santipur went into bypolls on October 30.

The bypoll in Dinhata and Santipur was necessitated after winning candidates from the BJP Nisith Pramanik and Jagannath Sarkar, respectively, chose to not take oath in order to remain in the Parliament.

Celebrations have begun in West Bengal as Trinamool Congress’ Udayan Guha has won the Dinhata seat, previously held by the BJP, by a margin of 1,63,005 votes. Similarly, candidate Subrata Mondal clinched the Gosaba assembly seat by a massive margin of 1,43,051 votes. TMC has also retained the Khardah assembly segment by an impressive margin of 93,832 votes. And defeated BJP by a margin of 64,675 votes in Santipur.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated all winning candidates. "My heartiest congratulations to all the four winning candidates! This victory is people's victory, as it shows how Bengal will always choose development and unity over propaganda and hate politics. With people's blessings, we promise to continue taking Bengal to greater heights!"

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brein took to social media to hit back at BJP after the poll results favoured the TMC.

Assembly by-elections were held on October 30 for five seats in Assam, four in Bengal, three each in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, two each in Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan and one seat each in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Mizoram and Telangana. Counting is also underway for Lok Sabha seats in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh.
