Centre agrees to admit women into NDA
New Delhi: The Centre has informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that it will give admission to women into National Defence Academy (NDA).
However, the center told the court that it needs time to frame the guidelines to admit the women into NDA courses. Court has granted ten days time to the Centre to reply.

Lauding for the positive response from the Centre, the court has observed that the court has been happy to note that armed forces have taken the decision to induct women candidates into NDA, asked the Centre to frame the guidelines in a time-bound manner.
Earlier hearing, a division bench headed by Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice Hrishikesh Roy expressed anguish over the government for not allowing women to take entrance exams in NDA. Despite the previous verdict of this court directing the government to provide equal opportunities to women in defence, the government has not implemented the order, the court observed.
