Congress slams state govt for ‘Covid mismanagement’

Bengaluru: Opposition Congress has criticised the government in handling Covid second wave in the state.
Initiating debate in the Legislative Assembly, Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah, KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar lambasted the state government for its poor ‘COVID management’, which claimed 3.17 lakh lives.

KPCC President alleged that though the government has announced Rs. 1 lakh ex-gratia to the family of the deceased person, the amount has not been released, the government is misleading the House.

'Though health experts have warned the state government on Covid the second wave, the state government has ignored the warning and wasn't prepared to prevent the spreading of the virus, Mr Siddaramaiah criticized.

Former Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa intervened to say that the government has earmarked Rs.200 crore compensation for the deceased person's family.

However, Transport Minister B. Sriramalu said that the government has disbursed the compensation to the family, however, his statement received sharp criticism from Congress members.

Siddaramaiah blamed the government has not released the compensation to the families. 'The finance department has given a reply that no money has been released to the family,' he pointed out.
