Ghulam Nabi Azad conferred with Padam Bhushan, Kapil Sibal takes a dig at Congress High Command
Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha, was conferred with Padam Bhushan on the eve of 73rd Republic Day for his distinguished service in national politics.
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal on Wednesday took a dig at the party high command while congratulating his colleague, senior leader from Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad who is conferred with Padam Bhushan.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, former leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha, was conferred with Padam Bhushan on the eve of 73rd Republic Day for his distinguished service in national politics.
Kapil Sibal said in a tweet, " Ghulam Nabi Azad conferred Padam Bhushan Congratulations bhaijan [borther]; Ironic that Congress doesn’t need his services when the nation recognises his contributions to public life."
Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sibal are part of the G-23 Congress leaders who had written a strongly worded letter to interim party president Sonia Gandhi in 2020, demanding a complete overhaul of the party.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also congratulated Ghulam Nabi Azad. "Warm congratulations to Shri @ghulamnazad on his Padma Bhushan. It is good to be recognised for one's public service even by a government of the other side," Mr Tharoor tweeted.
