Knowing the history of Goa lawmakers, Congress has moved its candidates to the resort. Candidates will stay in the resorts till the declaration of results on March 10. In 2017, dozen of Congress MLAs have defected to BJP.

Panaji: With exit poll predicted hung Assembly in Goa, Congress has moved its candidates to the resort to avoid poaching by BJP.

Congress has decided to guard its candidates, learning lessons from the past, Congress started ring-fencing the party candidates. Though Party won the highest number of seats in the 2017 Assembly polls, it has failed to form a government following a quick political move by the BJP.

Congress has faced defections in 2017 too, half a dozen of its MLAs have defected to BJP, thus this time, it has moved its candidates to a resort in North Goa, where they will stay until Thursday’s counting of votes is over.

Congress has deputed its senior leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram to Goa. On Tuesday evening, KPCC President has also been deputed to Goa to negotiate with smaller parties and Independents.

Even Congress has sent feelers to Trinamool Congress and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), its known adversaries in other states like Bengal and Delhi.
