Pune: Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 14 runs on Saturday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, winning their second game in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Shubman Gill's 84-run innings led Gujarat Titans to a commanding total of 171-6, which they successfully defended against the Delhi Capitals, who were led by Lockie Ferguson's four-wicket haul.
The Delhi Capitals had a rough start to their innings while chasing a total of 172.
Both openers for DC departed early. In form, Prithvi Shaw departed for just 10 runs and Tim Seifert was dismissed for just three runs. Rishabh Pant’s whirlwind knock of 43 in just 23 did not help DC to secure the win. In form batsman, Lalit Yadav once again contributed a valuable 20 runs.
DC lost wickets at regular intervals and Axar Patel, who is known for his hard-hitting shots, did not contribute much with the bat in this innings. He scored just 8 runs. In DC’s innings, a 61-run partnership between Pant and Yadav was the only big partnership.
DC, winning the toss, decided to bowl first. GT, with the help of Shubman Gill’s brilliant 84 runs in just 46 balls, scored 171 runs. GT lost their first wicket for just two runs, with opener Matthew Wade dismissed for just one run, Vijay Shankar’s bad form continued in this innings also, as he scored just 13 runs. But the positive thing for GT was that Gill got his form back in style.
Hardik Pandya’s quickfire 31 and Miller’s 20 runs in just 15 runs helped the GT put a decent total on board.
