Horatti confirms his decision to join the BJP
Hubballi: In a blow to Janata Dal (Secular) party in Karnataka, senior leader Basavaraj Horatti, Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council, said that he will be joining the BJP.
Also, he said that he would contest the biennial election for the West Teachers’ Constituency from BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Horatti said that BJP leader BS Yediyurappa spoke to him in this regard and everyone agreed for him to join the saffron party. He also said BJP national president JP Nadda and BS Yediyurappa spoke to him in this regard. He said the official date of his joining the BJP would be announced once the date for the election is announced.
Not a single BJP leader opposed him joining the BJP, and he said he decided to join. "How many days will I hide this? I am announcing that I have made up my mind to join the BJP." Even HD Kumaraswamy did not oppose me joining the saffron party and he said I would be his man wherever I go," said Horatti.
To a question, Mohan Limbikai, former MLC, has started a campaign claiming that he is the official candidate of the BJP for this constituency. Horatti said, "I don't know about it."
