Goswami took her 40th wicket of the tournament by dismissing Anisa Mohammed. The Indian pacer, who already owns the record for most women's one-day international wickets, accomplished the achievement in her 31st World Cup match.

Megan Schutt of Australia is the second-highest wicket-taker in World Cup history, behind Goswami by 27 wickets. Goswami achieved the feat in the 36th over of the Windies batting when substitute fielder Taniya Bhatia took an easy catch to dismiss Anisa Mohammed for West Indies' 9th wicket.

Goswami took 249 wickets from 198 matches, 56 wickets from 68 matches, and in Test cricket she took 44 wickets from 12 matches.

In their third encounter against the Windies, India destroyed their bowling, scoring 317/8 after deciding to bat first in Hamilton, New Zealand. Smriti Mandhana, India's star batter, hit 123, and Harmanpreet Kaur hit a century (109). The duo's tonnes rescued India from a situation that had been worsened by the early wickets of captain Mithali Raj (5), Yastika Bhatia (31), and Deepti Sharma  (15).

Among the bowlers, Meghna Singh and Sneh Rana each took two wickets, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Deepti Sharma, and Jhulan Goswami all took wickets.

India had made a good start to their World Cup campaign with a 107-run triumph against Pakistan, but they suffered a setback in their second encounter when New Zealand overpowered them by 62 runs.
