'No lockdown in Karnataka,' says Minister R Ashok

Bengaluru:  Karnataka Government is not intending to impose lockdown in the state, says Revenue Minister R Ashok after attending a meeting with Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Monday. 

'Decision on weekend 'tough rules' will be taken on Friday this week,' said Ashok. Schools and colleges will remain closed and the weekend curfew will continue till the next decision. 

"COVID19 cases will see rapid rise after January 25, 26. Accordingly, government has directed to arrange generatord for oxygen plants. Till Friday the government will watch and wait."

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, along with state Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar, chaired a virtual meeting with senior officials of the State Government, Health Department and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) experts regarding COVID-19.
