Punjab Congress dubs security lapse as propaganda and lies

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress dubbed the allegations of 'serioius security lapse' during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state as 'propaganda and lies.'

Reacting to the allegations the state Congress has put out the itinerary of PM Modi's tour programme and said, " The schedule of PM Modi included no road trip, only arrival by a helicopter to Ferozpur from Bathinda airport. Propaganda and lies is what he lives by, but people of Punjab are well aware of his intentions."The Ministry of Home Affairs had released a statement on the security breach during PM Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab on Wednesday.

"Modi ji and BJP is making a mountain out of mole but it is their own wrongdoings that people didn't turn up for his rally. The security arrangement was perfect but the PM decided to take a detour to Hussainiwala which wasn't part of his initial route."

According to the Home Ministry, PM Modi landed at Bathinda from where he was to go to the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter. Due to rain and poor visibility, the Prime Minister waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear out.

After a security lapse, it was decided to head back to Bathinda Airport. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) took cognisance of serious security lapse and sought a detailed report from the state government. The State Government has also been asked to fix responsibility for this lapse and take strict action.
