Santosh Patil's mortal remains reach his home town, Congress leaders detained
Congress leaders DK Shivakumar, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, and others were detained as police stopped them from marching towards CM Bommai's residence given their demand for KS Eshwarappa's resignation.
Belagavi: Contractor Santosh Patil's mortal remains arrived at his residence in Belagavi on Thursday. Patil, who allegedly died by suicide, had levelled corruption charges against Rural Development Minister KS Eshwarappa.
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, Congress has upped the ante by demanding Eshwarappa's resignation. However, CM Basavaraj Bommai refused to expedite political action against Eshwarappa.

DK Shivakumar said "He ( Karnataka CM) wants to save his corrupt minister. I think he is also part of this whole process. If he wants to save face of BJP & his govt, then immediately arrest (KS Eshwarappa) & book a case of corruption."
Reacting to Congress's protest, Bommai said " Congress doesn't have any moral right to protest. Congress is a Gangotri of corruption. Postmortem was done yesterday and now preliminary inquiry(report) will come & based on that we'll proceed."
BJP Karnataka accused KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar of implicating KS Eshwarappa in suicide case. In a series of tweets, BJP Karnataka said “To target Eshwarappa, ‘Mahayanaka’ (Shivkumar) has been used many weapons against him. Earlier he threatened Eshwarappa in the House that I will not let you. I will make a settlement to Eshwarappa, Mahanayaka said in the House, This is nothing but settlement politics of Mayanayaka.”
In another tweet, BJP Karnataka said, “Mahanayaka [DK Shivakumar] targeted Eshwarappa, alleged that Eshwarappa had distributed saffron shawl to Hindu youths to fight against Hijab row, Mayanayaka let team resorted dharna in the Assembly on Bhagwadwaj issue and demanded his resignation”.
