SP leader booked for raping woman in UP's Mau, on the run
MAU (UP): A local Samajwadi Party (SP) leader has been booked for allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman several times and threatening to kill her, in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district, police said on Sunday.
Anil Kumar Singh, SHO of Kotwali Nagar police station in Mau, said the accused Virendra Pal, who is also an advocate, raped the woman for almost a year. He is absconding and efforts are on to nab him.
The complainant alleged that she used to assist Pal in his legal work.
