“We decreased BJP’s tally in UP”, Akhilesh Yadav
Mr. Yadav thanked voters for their support and said they had shown that the BJP's seat count can be decreased.
Lucknow: Akhilesh Yadav, given a tough fight to giant BJP’s election machineries in UP, has conceded his party’s defeat.
Mr. Yadav thanked voters for their support and said they had shown that the BJP's seat count can be decreased.
Mr.Yadav said he was grateful to the voters of the state for a two-and-a-half fold increase in their seat tally and a one-and-a-half fold surge in their vote share, stated in Tweeter,
"We have shown that the BJP's seat count can be decreased. This decline would continue. More than half of the falsehoods have been wiped out, the rest will follow. The struggle in public interest would continue," he tweeted.
Throughout the elections campaign, it was a straight fight between Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityananth. BJP has targeted Yadav most, because it is considered as SP is only a strong contender for it in UP.
In most of the rallies, Yogi and Modi attacked Yadav and termed SP as protecting terrorists. Mr. Modi even termed as ‘cycle’ elections symbol of SP harboring terrorists.
SP has increased its tally in the elections by winning 107 seats. In 2017, it has contested in 377 seats and obtained only 47 seats and it's vote percentage was 7.7.
It has snatched a few seats from BJP in the Poorvanchal area. BSP's Supremo Mayawati was totally inactive during the elections campaign thus her Dalit votes have been split between SP and BJP..
BJP has able to break the vote bank of BSP, a large section of BSP's vote transferred to BJP. However on the other hand SP's vote bank, Muslims, and Yadav were intact with that party.
