3 JeM militants killed in encounter in South Kashmir's Tral
Srinagar: Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Wakeel Shah, involved in the killing of BJP leader Rakesh Pandita, and two other militants were killed in an encounter at Tral on Saturday.
The joint operation was carried by Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army. Two AK-47 rifles, one SLR and other warlike stores were recovered from the three terrorists neutralised in the Tral encounter, reported news agency ANI.
Maj Gen Rashim Bali (GOC Victor force) said, "We came to know that the 3 terrorists were operating in the area for a long time. Their elimination has sent a strong message that there is no place for them in the Valley".
BJP leader Rakesh Pandita, a municipal councillor, was shot by militants in the Tral belt of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on June 3. Pandit succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The leader was visiting his friend at Tral Payeen.
On Friday, two terrorists belonging to the “hit squad” of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in an encounter with security forces at Khrew in Pulwama district, according to reports.
