3 naval personnel dead in explosion onboard INS Ranvir
INS Ranvir is the fourth of the five Rajput-class destroyers built for the Indian Navy and was commissioned on 28 October 1986.
Mumbai: Three Indian Navy personnel lost their lives in an explosion in an internal compartment onboard INS Ranvir on Tuesday.
Responding immediately, the ship's crew brought the situation under control. There was no major material damage, according to news agency ANI.
Indian Navy said in a statement, "Admiral R Hari Kumar CNS and all personnel of Indian Navy extend heartfelt condolences to the families of Krishan Kumar MCPO I, Surinder Kumar MCPO II and AK Singh MCPO II, who succumbed to injuries in the unfortunate incident onboard INS Ranvir. We stand by you in this difficult times.."
Colaba Police Station had registered an accidental death report (ADR) in the matter. The investigation is underway.
