75th Independence Day: Bommai announces special schemes

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, in his Independence day speech, announced special programmes to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Indian Independence.  

The chief minister said the BJP government has taken up development works alongside efficiently and effectively facing the flood situation and the COVID 19 pandemic.

Bommai said, " I took the oath of office as Chief Minister on 28th of this July. I have resolved to continue in the path of development taken by my predecessor Shri B.S.Yediyurappa. Government is a continuous process. The Government machinery should not stop when the players change in the system. Similarly, the wheel of progress should also move forward. Credible, efficient, honest, transparent and people friendly governance is the priority of our Government".  

On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of Independence Day, the chief minister announced seven special programmes. 

Amrith Gram Panchayaths: Overall Development of 750 select Gram Panchayaths will be taken up with projects including street lights, drinking water to each household, 100 per cent segregation and disposal of solid waste, scientific disposal of wastewater, installing solar power, schools with digital libraries etc. 

Amrith Rural Housing Scheme: Identify and provide housing for all homeless in select 750 Gram Panchayaths.

Amrith Farmer Producer Organisations: 750 Amrith Farmer Producer Organisations would be set up in the State to promote 36 productions and marketing of agriculture, fisheries and weavers products. Each Organisation would be given Rs. 30 lakh each for three years, amounting to Rs. 225 crore. 

Amrith Nirmala Nagara: Amirtha Nirmala Nagara programme will be implemented in 75 Urban Local Bodies to keep them clean and beautiful. Rs. 1 crore each would be provided, amounting to Rs. 75 crore. 

Amrith School Infrastructure Programme: Rs. 75 crores will be spent for providing basic infrastructure facilities such as buildings, lab, libraries, toilets etc. to 750 schools, with Rs. 10 lakh each. Amrith Anganwadi Centers: Rs. 7.5 crore would be spent to upgrade the infrastructure in 750 Anganwadis with Rs. 1 lakh each. 

Amirth Self Help Microenterprises: Rs. 75 crore seed money would be given to 7500 Self Help Groups in the State to 37 set up Micro Enterprises with Rs. 1 lakh each. Amrith Community Development Programme: 750 school/ college students would be identified. They would be inspired and motivated to involve themselves in Productive Community Services. 

Amrith Health Infrastructure Upgradation Programme: 750 Primary Health Centres would be identified and upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lakh each, amounting to Rs. 150 crores. 

Amrith Skill Training Programme: Rs. 112 crores would be spent for 2 years of skill development training for 75000 youths belonging to Scheduled caste, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Class and Minority communities in the State.

Amrith Sports adoption Programme: India has made remarkable achievements in Tokyo Olympics this year. Amrith Sports Adoption Programme would be implemented 38 to train and encourage 75 talented sportspersons from the State who have the potential to win medals for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
