Jodhpur: In a shocking incident, an Indian Army soldier has been accused of raping the wife of his own colleague in Jodhpur Military Station, Rajasthan. A case has already been filed against him.

Besides him, the case has also been filed against four other officers for allegedly threatening the couple not to file the case and keep the matter secret. Meanwhile, the sources said that the woman has alleged that the army police, which was supposed to take action against the accused, has harassed the victim. The victim also alleged that the police were forcing her to give false statements to help the accused.

The reports said that the case was filed two days after the incident by the victim couple. In this case, they have named for officials including two of the rank of colonel and Major.

After filing a case, the Army said that it is conducting an inquiry by higher officials. He also assured full cooperation in assisting the local police in the probe. The victim, in her complaint, stated that she lived in the cantonment area with her husband, who serves in the Army as a soldier.

"On March 14 evening, a subedar came to her house when she was taking a bath and tried to molest her. When she raised the alarm, her husband, who was around, came to her rescue. Both of them tried to catch the subedar, but he managed to flee," station house officer Bharat Rawat said, citing the victim's complaint.

Rawat added that the couple immediately brought the matter to the notice of the senior officers. But the officer did not entertain the issue and also ordered them not to raise the matter anywhere.

The victim also alleged that the officers tried their best to keep her and her husband confined to their house so that they did not venture out seeking action against the accused.

Defence spokesperson Lt. Col. Amitabh Sharma has reacted to the incident saying that the Indian Army has taken cognizance of a case in which the wife of a serving soldier staying in Jodhpur Military Station has filed an FIR making serious allegations against another serving soldier and other personnel.
