‘Aashram’ set attacked by Bajarang Dal members
Director Prakash Jha shooting web series of Aashram, the right wing group has threatened him to change the name of the web series.
Bhopal: Bajarang Dal members have attacked the set of web series Ashram and roughed up the filmmaker Prakash Jha.
Bajarang Dal members have went on a rampage on the set and searched for Bobby Deol, the members have alleged that film makers has demeaning the Hindu culture and showing disrespect towards Hinduism.
Bajarang Dal members have smeared ink on Prakash Jha face and beaten crew members on the set. Further right wing group members stated that they will not allow to shoot the film till the title was changed. Director has not filed complaint yet, however police have assured proper protection to the film maker.
Bajarang Dal leader Sushil Surhele said that, Prakash Jha has made Ashram 1, Ashram 2 and not shooting Ashram 3. In which a guru was abusing women, does Prakash Jha has guts to make such kind of film on a church or madrasa?, he questioned.
“We have blackened Prakash Jha face, we are looking for Bobby Deol, he should have take some tips from his brother Sunny Deol to make patriotic movies”, the Bajarang Dal leader said.
Mr. Jha has not filed a complaint in the matter, however he has assured that he would change the name of the web series. The mob has sohoted slogans of Prakash Jha Murdabad, Bobby Deol Murdabad,
"Action will be taken against those who disrupted the shooting and vandalised property today tself. They will be arrested," senior police officer Irshad Wali said.
"Anti-social elements ransacked vehicles created trouble. Crew members of Ashram will be given fill security and it will be ensured this does not happen again," he added.
It was not first time right wing group has making such kind of agitation against film makers. In 2017, another right wing group Karni Sena had attacked the sets of Deepika Padukone starrer Padmaavat, assaulted director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and other crew members, following threat of Karni Sena, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has forced to change the name from Padmavati.
Recently Amazon had to issue an apology and make changes to its Saif Ali Khan-starrer web series 'Tandav' after it faced objections from some Hindu groups and the producers were threatened with arrest by the Uttar Pradesh government.
