Assembly polls only after full statehood to J&K: Gupkar alliance
Srinagar: People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) stressed that Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections must be held only after restoring full statehood for the state.
The alliance emphasised that BJP must honour their word on the restoration of statehood as committed on the floor of the Parliament, reported ANI.
Also, all members of PAGD expressed disappointment at the outcome of the Delhi meet (with PM), especially at the absence of substantial Confidence Building Measures like releasing political and other prisoners and concrete steps to end the siege.
The first meeting of the constituents of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration was held on Sunday after the all-party meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on June 24.
Fourteen leaders, including former chief ministers and party presidents, were invited to the meeting in Delhi that Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired. Those invited were: Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Omar Abdullah, Sajad Lone, Altaf Bukhari, Ravinder Raina, GA Mir, MY Tarigami, Bhim Singh, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Tara Chand, Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta.
