BCCI to conduct Ranji Trophy in 2 phases
The Ranji Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between multiple teams representing regional and state cricket associations.
Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has decided to conduct the Ranji Trophy this season in two phases.
"In the first phase, we plan to complete all matches of the league stage while the knockouts will be held in June," BCCI Secretary Jay Shah told news agency ANI.
"My team working closely to mitigate any kind of health risk caused by the pandemic,while ensuring a highly competitive red-ball cricket contest. Ranji Trophy is our most prestigious domestic competition, which has been providing Indian Cricket with an enviable talent pool," said Jay Shah.
The Ranji Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket championship played in India between multiple teams representing regional and state cricket associations. The competition currently consists of 38 teams, with all 28 states in India and four of the eight union territories having at least one representation.
