After Uttarakhand, Karnataka, now Gujarat to elect new CM
Gandhinagar: Following the resignation of Vijay Rupani as chief minister, Gujarat BJP legislature party to meet at the party office in Gandhinagar in the presence of the central observer for Gujarat on Sunday.
BJP Gujarat Legislative party meet to be held at 3 pm. Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Pralhad Joshi and BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh will conduct the meeting to elect our new chief minister.
Pralhad Joshi said, "Gujarat BJP legislative party meeting to be held today after Vijay Rupani resigned as CM yesterday I will hold consultations with Gujarat leaders, then the central leadership will take a decision".
Narendra Singh Tomar said, "We have come here to hold further discussions (over the name of next chief minister of Gujarat). We will hold discussions with the State president and other leaders".

In a surprising political development, months ahead of the Gujarat assembly elections, Vijay Rupani resigned as Chief Minister of Gujarat on Saturday.
In a media briefing, Rupani did not outline the reason behind his decision. Also, the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have not announced the name of the new chief minister. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and the people of Gujarat and said that he will take new responsibilities assigned to him by the party.
In the past few months BJP has changed chief ministers in Uttarakhand and Karnataka. Pushkar Singh Dhami is the third chief minister of Uttarakhand in a span of four years. He succeeded Tirath Singh Rawat. Uttarakhand will got to assembly elections in 2022.
In Karnataka, senior leader and Lingayat strongman BS Yediyurappa was succeeded by Basavaraj Bommai. Yediyurappa is hour-time chief minister and the only senior BJP leader to hold on to power after the party fixed a retirement age. The southern state will got to polls in 2023.
