BJP upsetting communal harmony for electoral gains, says Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy launched a blistering attack on the BJP. He claimed that the BJP was upsetting communal harmony in the state and dividing society along religious lines to gain votes.

Speaking to reporters at JP Bhavan, he urged the government to speak up against increasing fuel prices and inflation.

"Leave Jatka and halal cuts alone; let us fight inflation and fuel price hikes; and I will join you in this fight wearing a saffron shawl," former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said.

All of these unnecessary issues are affecting the state's industries. People are not getting worried about halal and Jhatka meat. These issues are inexplicably prepared. If such communal clashes start, they will affect the industries. Hence, corporate companies are worried about their future in the state.

He said they have launched a fight against the BJP and the actual fight begins with Hanuman Jayanti. Kumaraswamy expressed confidence that the history of 1994 would be repeated and the JDS would form the next government.

He also criticised Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for remaining silent on these issues. "The BJP people used to call former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a mute PM. Now our CM has become mute. This Bommai government is being run by someone else; this is a remote-controlled government, "said CM.

Karnataka is the garden of peace and the BJP has set fire to this garden. Congress authorised the setting of fire, but the grand old party remained silent for fear of losing votes."I just raised my voice against those who are causing unrest," said Kumaraswamy.

Basavaraj Horatti is the 101st individual.

Kumaraswamy said he was not surprised by senior JD(S) MLC Basavaraj Horatti's decision to join the BJP; as many as 100 JD(S) leaders have joined the BJP, and he would be the 101st; if he feels it is better for him to switch sides, let him join, said the former CM.
