Bommai rules out NIA probe into Harsha's murder case
Chief Minister has ruled out handing over to Hindu activist murder case to CBI or National Investigating Agency (NIA). However, he said that government would take a decision only after the completion of an ongoing investigation by the Shivamogga police.
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai asserted that government would take a call on whether to hand over Bajrang Dal activist Harsha's murder case to an independent probe agency only after the thorough investigation by the local police.
Speaking to reporters that Mr. Bommai ruled out handing over to Hindu activist murder case to CBI or National Investigating Agency (NIA). However, he said that government would take a decision only after the completion of an ongoing investigation by the Shivamogga police.
Ruling party MLAs, MPs, and right-wing activists expressed displeasure against the state government for not protecting the life of Hindu activist and urged the case to be handover to NIA. BJP MPs and the Union Minister of State, Shobha Karandlaje has written a letter to the Chief Minister urging him to hand over the case to NIA.
Even party MPs have slammed their own government for not protecting the life of Hindu activist. They alleged that Muslim fundamental organizations were involved in this crime and the case should be investigated by the NIA.
Mr. Bommai said that state government priority is to maintain law and order and restore normalcy in Shivamogga city. Curfew has been imposed to avoid violence in the city, the Chief Minister said.
Regarding Congress's allegation on 'state-sponsored violence in the Shivamogga by allowing procession rally despite 144 section imposed in the city on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that with experience Congress is making such baseless allegations, he said.
Chief Minister has also ruled out going to Delhi for a political visit. His Delhi visit was planned weak back, but due to unrest in Shivamogga following the murder of a Hindu activist, he has canceled the Delhi visit, sources said.
Harsha receives video calls: Before being brutally killed by 8 accused on Sunday night, Harsha had received a video call from unknown numbers and callers have identified as his friends. Two girls students have called him on his mobile. It was stated that girls have reportedly sought Harsha's help for their problem. Harsha agreed to help them out, but on the same night, he was hacked to death.
In fact Harsha was reluctant to help the students, but they insisted him to help them, along with his friends Harsha left the place to help the girl students. But before reaching them he was killed by six to eight members gang on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, Harsha's mobile was not found in murder sport, police have yet to recover the mobile. Only after they recover the mobile, details will be available. The police have started the investigation into the hijab angle.
Whether the accused have used two students to kill Harsha or not yet to be investigated by the police.
Meanwhile, Home Minister has directed the DGP Praveen Sood to make a crime audit of two police stations in Shivamogga city which come under the jurisdiction of Harsha's residence. It was alleged that police have failed to give proper protection to Hindu activist despite complaining to them that he is facing life threats.
