BSY meets Modi, seeks grants for developmental project

New Delhi: Amidst speculation over leadership change in the state, Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at later’s residence here on Friday evening. 

Mr. Yediyurappa evaded the question regarding leadership change in the state.” I don’t know about leadership change in the state, you (scribes) should tell me about that issue”, Mr. Yediyurappa told reporters soon after meeting the Prime Minister. 

“Party will not make a public announcement about the change of leadership. But at the appropriate time, the party will take a decision in the matter”, sources in party central leadership said. 

Along with Yediyurappa, his son B.Y. Vijayendra, MP son, B.Y. Raghavendra, MLC, Lehar Singh went to Delhi. However, while meeting with the Prime Minister, Chief Minister’s political secretary Girish Hosur was present. 

Press statement released by CM office stated that Chief Minister has requested the Prime Minister to declare Upper Bhadra project as a national project. He also requested the Prime Minister to grant Rs.6000 crore for Bengaluru peripheral ring road project, stated in CM office brief. 

Chief Minister also requested the Prime Minister about the implementation of the Mekedatu project, the establishment of the US consulate office at Bengaluru, CM office stated. 

But BJP sources maintained that the party had informed Lingayat strongmen to step down and to make way for a select alternative leader. 

To bargain more time with party central leadership, Mr. Yediyurappa has taken one time his trusted loyalist, Lehar Singh and his two sons along with him.
