Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh Wednesday announced forming a new political party ahead of assembly elections in 2022.
Capt. Amarinder Singh addressing the media said, "Yes, I will be forming a new party. The name will be announced once the Election Commission clears it, along with the symbol. My lawyers are working on it".
"When the time comes we will fight all 117 seats, whether adjustment seats or we contest on our own".
"As far as Sidhu (Navjot Singh Sidhu) is concerned, wherever he fights from we will fight him," Singh said.

Last month, Captain Amarinder Singh had called on Union home minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi, stoking speculation that the 79-year-old could be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or seeking its support ahead of next year’s assembly polls in the state.
After stepping down as chief minister Singh publicly criticised the Gandhi siblings. He described former president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi as “inexperienced”. His team called the meeting with Mr Shah a "courtesy visit".
Singh -- - seen as the Congress's biggest mass leader in the state -- had quit the Chief Minister's post after a festering, year-long rebellion by a section of MLAs led by Navjot Singh Sidhu. His detractor cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu was elevated by the Gandhis to the post of the party chief two months ago.
