New Delhi: CDS General Bipin Rawat's mortal remains were consigned to flame with full military honours 17-gun salute at Brar Square crematorium, Delhi Cantonment, after a precession from his residence on Friday. 

His last rites were performed along with his wife Madhulika Rawat, who too lost her life in Tamil Nadu Chopper Crash. Their daughters Kritika and Tarini performed their last rites.

During the funeral procession, citizens raised slogans of "Jab tak suraj chaand rahega, Bipin ji ka naam rahega", as the cortège of General Bipin Rawat proceeded to Brar Square crematorium.

Earlier, the three service chiefs- Army Chief Gen MM Naravane, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar paid tribute to the departed General and his wife at the latter's residence.Military commanders of Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh attended the last rites of India's first Chief of Defence Staff.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid last respects to late General Bipin Rawat and other Armed Forces personnel at 9 PM on Thursday after the mortal remains of CDS and other Armed Forces personnel reached Delhi around 8 PM.
