With pressure is mounting on him, the Chief Minister has discussed about expansion as well as reshuffling of his cabinet with Shah. But sources said that before five states elections, expansion of the Cabinet is most unlikely.

New Delhi. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday evening discussed about cabinet expansion.

With pressure is mounting on him, the Chief Minister has discussed about expansion as well as reshuffling of his cabinet with Shah. Sources said that central leadership would take a call only after the elections in five states.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bommai has reportedly discussed with the Union Home Minister about ongoing hijab controversy in the state. He told the Union Home Minister that the government has taken all necessary steps to maintain law and order. He also briefed about government orders on making uniforms compulsory in the colleges.

Chief Minister has presented a handbook on the achievements of his government in the last 6 months to Amit Shah on the occasion and explained the gist of the content.

The Chief Minister also presented a study report of the Institute of Social and Economic Change(ISEC) on the impact of the welfare programmes of the Bommai government for the welfare of the poor.

Mr. Amit Shah appreciated the achievements of the Bommai government. The Chief Minister also discussed the situation in the state with Shah. 

CM meets Railway minister, seeks supply of coal

Mr. Bommai has discussed with the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav seeking more rakes for the supply of coal. The railway minister has assured that he would instruct the concerned in the Railway Board to resolve the issue.

After meeting with Ashwini Vaishnav, Mr. Bommai said, the State Chief Secretary would speak to the Chairman of the Railway Board in this regard.

Replying to questions on delay in implementation of Central projects in the state and delay by the state government in according clearances for road and railway projects, Mr. Bommai said that, GST exemption for STRR Roads project has been approved, talks are on over issues related to land acquisitions, railway projects are being implemented on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis between the Centre and State.

Funds for railway projects are not released at one go in a single year. It is being released on a priority basis in phases. Though funds have been released for some railway projects, the hitches in land acquisition cause delay sometimes. Action is being taken to resolve issues related to land acquisition," Mr. Bommai added.

The Chief Minister also met the Union Health minister and discussed the Covid situation in the state. "I have requested special grants to ramp up medical infrastructure in the state and he has agreed for that," Mr. Bommai said.
