Former chief minister, Yediyurappa, welcomed the High Court judgement on the school uniform issue. The court verdict proved that the constitution is supreme. He requested all to honour the decision and not to continue the issue further.

 Bengaluru: The High Court's three-judge bench has ruled that wearing the hijab is not an essential religious practice. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has requested all the community members, students and their parents to follow the verdict of the High Court, which said wearing the hijab is not an essential religious practice.

 "I request all to accept and follow the ruling of the High Court. Nothing is more important than studies for students, hence I request them to concentrate on their studies as the High Court put an end to the issue," he said.

He said following the verdict that if someone was found to be taking the law into their hand, they would be punished severely according to the law. He asked people to maintain peace and tranquilly in the society.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat said the verdict has answered all the questions, including whether wearing a hijab was an essential part of religious practice or not, and "It is our victory." We welcome the judgement of the court. I have no grudge against the students who approached the court. I request all those students to attend the classes starting tomorrow. The hijab has caused lots of controversies, and I request that they not make it a national controversy by approaching the Supreme Court. The students will be provided with notes that they missed while staying away from the classes, "he said.

The Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Mr B C Nagesh, says lacunae in the Karnataka Education Act will be set right. The uniform helps to bring everyone to the national mainstream.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mines and Coal, Pralhad Joshi, welcomed the High Court verdict and requested that everyone accept the order and asked the students to concentrate on their studies, leaving behind the issue. Nothing is more important to a student than their studies, so they should focus on it. He also appealed to people to maintain peace and tranquilly in the society.
