Bengaluru: To expedite government machinery, newly elected Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai instructed the senior bureaucrats to clear all department files within 15 days from today. 

Chairing a meeting with Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of all departments soon after he took oath as the Chief Minister, Mr. Bommai instructed the officials to do micro-level monitoring of their departments rather than macro-level supervision. 

Spelling out of the new direction of his government to the officers, Mr. Bommai said, his vision to provide transparent, corruption free and pro-people administration. 

Chief Minister has directed the officials that all government orders and decisions should be implemented in a time-bound manner, and all decisions must be result-oriented.

To avoid delay in clearing of files and implementations of programs, the Chief Minister has hinted that he will bring a new system to avoid unnecessary delay in clearance of files after discussing with CS. 

His government will work towards the welfare of the farmers, SC/STs, poor, deprived classes and women. The decision should be implemented in the proper way without any hassle. Chief Minister has also directed the officials for inter-department coordination with teamwork. 

Chief Minister said that delay in implementation of work will cause an increase in expenditure and corruption. “All officers should work as teamwork. I am also one of the members of their team. They can drop into my office any time for assistance and cooperation”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has warned the officials that he will not tolerate Chelta he- attitude in the system. Responsibility will be allotted to the officers after assessing their efficiency and ability in their field, he said in the meeting. 

Noting fall in revenue generation due to Covid pandemic, the Chief Minister has instructed the departments' heads to bring down the expenditure of at least 5 % in their respective department by next financial year, without effecting ongoing programs.

Chief Minister S.R. Bommai, who also holds the finance portfolio, directed the officials to adopt financial discipline in their respective departments and curtail unwanted expenditures. 

He hinted that ongoing Covid related works and programs will be continued. His focus is to prepare for the anticipated third wave of covid pandemic and effective implementation of the vaccination drive.
