Congress MLC C.M. Ibrahim lashes out Siddaramaiah, decides to quit party

Bengaluru: Not appointing him as the Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council has upset the senior Congress leader C.M. Ibrahim and decided to leave the party.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Mr. Ibrahim lashed out at former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not safeguarding his interest in the party though he pledged support to him.

Mr. Ibrahim has upset with the party leadership for not appointing him as the Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council. Party high command has appointed senior congress leader B.K. Hariprasad to the post.

Sources said that. Mr. Ibrahim is likely to join the JD(S). A few months back he has met former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda. Even JD(S) welcomed Mr. Ibrahim to the party. Very soon he will take a decision about his next political move. “I am free to take a decision, very soon I will announce my decision”, Mr. Ibrahim said.

Recalling his long-standing association with former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Mr. Ibrahim said “I have left the JD(S) along with Siddaramaiah, because of him I left JDS. I insisted him to file a nomination from Badami, I have come to know that his winning in the Chamundeshwari constituency was difficult in 2018 Assembly elections. But now, Mr. Siddaramaiah has given Sankranti a gift to me. I will accept the same with humility”, said Congress Muslim leader.

Mr. Ibrahim said that he will soon resign to the membership of the Legislative Council. Very soon I will meet H.D. Devegowda and will take a decision. “I cannot adjust with KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar. He used to call everyone by name”, Mr. Ibrahim said.

“Only Muslims remain as the voters of Congress party, they have confidence to come back to power in 2023 Assembly elections. But in 2023 alliance government will be formed in the state. Congress leaders in false hope”, Mr. Ibrahim said and added that Congress strength was reduced from 120 to 80 in 2018 Assembly elections, it will further reduce in 2023 elections, he said.
