The Election Commission of India (ECI) has prohibited victory procession after the counting in the byelections held across 14 states on Tuesday.
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has prohibited victory procession after the counting in the byelections held across 14 states on Tuesday.
EC said in a statement, "No victory procession after counting permissible. Not more than two persons allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her authorised representative receives certification of election from Returning Officer concerned".
By-elections results to three Lok Sabha seats and 30 assembly seats spread across 14 states will be declared today.
The seats where Lok Sabha by-elections were held are Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. In the three Lok Sabha seats, Congress is now leading in Himachal Pradesh. BJP leading in Madhya Pradesh andShiv Sena in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The assembly by-polls were held on one seat in Andhra Pradesh, five in Assam, three in Madhya Pradesh, two in Bihar, one in Haryana, three in Himachal Pradesh, two in Karnataka, one in Maharashtra, three in Meghalaya, one in Mizoram and Nagaland, two in Rajasthan, one in Telangana and four in West Bengal.
