ED to question Kharge in National Herald case

New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to veteran Congress leader  Mallikarjuna Kharge in connection with the National Herald corruption case.

ED has issued summons to Kharge asking him to appear before the agency today. ED will question him regarding the National Herald misappropriation case.

Congress has accused BJP led centre that "100 per cent pure political vendetta" in the National Herald case, but ED has been investigating the case notwithstanding the protests of the grand old party.

In this case, based on BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy's petition, the court had granted bail to Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi and party senior leader Rahul Gandhi in 2015.

The Patiala House court was converted to a security fortress for the hearing but the proceedings got over in under five minutes with the court granting the Gandhis bail after they furnished personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each and one surety.
