Elderly man dies after his scooter fell into pothole

Bengaluru: A 75 year old disabled met with an accident after his two-wheeler fell into a pothole on Monday night.

M. Khursheed Ahmed, a resident of Jayanagar, died after his two-wheeler fell into a pothole in the city. Kamakshipalya police have registered a case. Potholes are common in many parts of the city due to heavy rain and the construction of white tapping roads. BBMP has not taken any steps to fill the pothole despite repeated directions from the High Court.

Taking serious note of the case of an accident, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai directed the BBMP to fill all potholes in the city before September 30.

Mr. Bommai instructed BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta to fill the pothole before September 30 and asked him to finish the works on a war footing manner.

“I have directed the BBMP Commissioner to fill the potholes, told him to do the work on war footing manner”, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters.

In the recent past, BBMP has come under criticism for its shabby construction of roads across the city. Major roads and service roads in the city have big potholes; it is routine in the city that two-wheeler riders were met with a fatal accident while avoiding potholes.

However, the police claimed that it was a man-made pothole dug to install sanitary pipeline works, but it was left without asphalting. Police said that due to the bad condition of the road, Khursheed Ahmed died.
Instead of helping the victim to shift the hospitals, the people have started taking videos and making it viral on social media.
