Five states elections: Election Commission holds virtual meetings

New Delhi: The Election Commission is holding virtual meetings today to review the situation regarding the ban on physical rallies and roadshows to prevent the spread of coronavirus should continue or not.
The poll panel has announced the calendar of events for elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur on January 8. On that, the Election Commission has announced a ban on physical rallies, road and bike shows and similar campaigning events till January 15. Later, Election Commission has extended the ban until January 22.
The Election Commission of India has also allowed indoor meetings with a seating capacity of 300 people or 50 percent of the capacity of the hall or auditorium.
