Fuel prices remain stable since 92 days
A litre of petrol costs ₹ 95.41 in Delhi, diesel price is ₹ 86.67 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol per litre is ₹ 109.98 and diesel price is ₹ 94.14 per litre.
Fuel prices remain unchanged in all metro cities since 92 days, this is the longest period when the prices have remained unchanged ever since the daily revisions of prices began in 2017.
The earlier 82-day break-in rate revision was from March 17, 2020, and June 6, 2020, when National lockdown was announced to combat Coronavirus.
The current status quo in petrol and diesel prices has continued till the completion of Assembly elections in five states. Till the completion of elections to Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Manipur, the revision of the rate is unlikely.
In December 2021, the Delhi government had reduced the value-added tax on petrol from 30 per cent to 19.40 per cent. With this, petrol prices in the national capital were slashed by ₹ 8.56 per litre.
