Gold concealed in paste form seized at Kannur airport
Kannur: An out-of-the-box way of smuggling-in gold from a foreign country has failed by the customs officials at Kannur airport on Monday.
News agency ANI reported that Air Intelligence Unit at Kannur airport seized 302 grams of gold in the form of a very thin paste. The paste was concealed within the double-layered pants worn by a passenger.
Usually, travellers are seen smuggling precious metal in the form of jewellery or biscuit. However, this unknown (name not yet revealed ) passenger carried the gold in paste form. Still, the passenger could not outsmart the customs officials.
The seized gold is worth Rs 14.69 lakhs (Rs 14,69,230).
