India focused on safe return of Indians from Afghanistan: Jaishankar
New Delhi: The Government of India is currently focused on safe return of Indian nationals from Afghanistan, will follow the wait and watch approach towards the Taliban.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, on India's dealing with the Taliban, said, "At the moment, we are, like everybody else, very carefully following developments in Afghanistan. Our focus is on ensuring security in Afghanistan and the safe return of Indian nationals".
On India's future course of action, the External Affairs Minister said India's relationship with the Afghan people continues.
"For us, it [Indian investment in Afghanistan] reflected our historical relationship with the Afghan people. That relationship with the Afghan people obviously continues. That will guide our approach to Afghanistan in the coming days".
"At this point, we're looking at what is the situation in Kabul. Obviously, the Taliban and its representatives have come to Kabul. So we need to take it on from there," said Jaishankar on being asked about whether India has any communication with Taliban in recent days.
