Jayalalithaa biopic on September 10
The biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actress J.Jayalalithaa will release in theatres on September 10.
Kangana Ranaut plays the role of Jayalalithaa while Arvind Swami plays the role of M.G.R in the film directed by AL Vijay. The script is by Bahubali fame KV Vijayendra Prasad.
The film has been made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. When the film was announced in 2018 after the death of J.Jayalalithaa, Vidya Balan was reported to be playing the title role. However when shooting commenced in 2019, it was Kangana who had taken over.
The biopic will feature the life of Jayalalithaa from being the heroine in films of M.G.R to her entry into politics after his death and her ascent to the chief ministership of Tamil Nadu. She is reportedly seen in four different looks through the film, for which a prosthetic specialist from Hollywood was hired. She also had to gain 20 kilograms for the role. The film was also mired in controversy after Jayalalithaa's niece, Deepa Jayakumar, demanding that her permission is needed to make the biopic.
