Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Wednesday said the government will accept the court on the ongoing hijab row in the state. 

As the Karnataka High Court to resume the hearing today, the Home Minister while speaking to reporters,  said, "Government is expecting court orders by the end of the day. We can't advise the court. We have to accept it when the court orders." 

"Action will be taken wherever unpleasant things have happened. Police has registered cases. We have arrested a few people, they are outsiders, not students, after inquiry, we will let you know, " Jnanendra said. 

The Karnataka High Court is hearing the petition filed by five Muslim students of government Pre-University College for girls in Udupi. The plea seeks permission to wear hijab in the college premises. A single bench headed by justice Krishna S. Dixit will continue to hear the petitions filed by Ayesha Hajeera Almas and others. 

The High Court adjourned the hearing of a batch of writ petitions on Tuesday. The court has requested the students' community and the public to maintain peace and tranquillity.

The Court advised the students not to indulge in any kind of Galata or protest during the hearing of the writ petition. “The court has full faith in the wisdom and virtue in public at large, it hopes same should put in practice”, the court said.  

Karnataka Government on Tuesday announced 3-day holidays for high school, PU and degree colleges across the state following widespread violence over the Hijab controversy.

While commenting on 'hijab row', Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "We're awaiting directions from Karnataka HC. I appeal to students to maintain peace and harmony. I've directed school administration to see there're no clashes between students. Appeal to all concerned persons from outside not to make provocative statements."  

CM Bommai also directed concerned authorities to maintain law and order. He further added, "As I speak proceedings in the court are underway. I appeal to each and everyone not to provoke at this time. Congress is just putting false allegations on us. We will abide by the law."
