Punjab Congress crisis intensifies
Chandigrah : Change of leadership fight in Punjab has intensified since Punjab PCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu camp and Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh camp rallying behind their respective leaders.
Party high command effort to resolve the crisis did not give fruitful results after two warring groups have openly spoken out against each other. Pro Sidhu camp has insisted on a change of leadership; however, on the other hand pro-Amarinder Singh has insisted party high command for the continuation of Mr. Singh in CM post. Meanwhile, support grows for Chief Minister Mr. Singh.
From Sidhu camp, four ministers and 20 MLAs have openly demanded change of leadership in the state. On the other hand, Amarinder Singh supporters demanded legal action against two advisors of Mr. Sidhu, Malwinder Mali and Pyare Lal Garg for their anti-national remarks and sharing objectionable caricature of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Four days back, Mr. Amarinder Singh has met Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, but there is no decision came from party high command to douse the growing dissent in the Punjab Congress unit.
Sources said that delay in taking decision by party high command indicated that to quell the dissent against Amarinder Singh; however, Sidhu camp has not ready to give up its demand for change of leadership.

Two former chief minister has met the party high command, urging party to continue Mr. Singh in CM post, they warned that any change of leadership will boomerang the party prospects in coming Assembly elections.
From the pro-Sidhu camp, four ministers, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Tript Rajinder Bajwa, Sukhbinder Sarkaria, and Charanjit Channi, and more than 12 MLAs have demanded change of leadership in the state.
Punjab MLA, who is close to Sidhu, has said that cosmetic changes will not work, and nothing short of replacing the Chief Minister will dispel the commonly held perception that the state government is in league with the Badals of the Akali Dal. Even a few Congress MPs have not in favour of change of leadership in the state.
AICC in-charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat said, that "when we brought in changes in PCC, we had an idea about possible issues that can come up. We'll find a solution. Everyone trusts Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. We'll look into the matter and we will resolve it".
Further, he added that, four and half years have passed by. It was good. But suddenly what has happened, why a large number of MLAs are disappointed. We will see and find a solution to it.
