Union minister Rane's arrest dents center-state relations
Mumbai: The arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane by Mumbai police has led to fresh turmoil between the Modi-led NDA government and the Uddhav Thackeray government in Maharashtra.
The arrest of Mr. Rane was not one reason for his slapping statement against Uddhav Thackeray. In the recent past, Mr. Rane has made many objectionable statements against Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray for his alleged involvement in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
Rane targeted the Chief Minister and his party on many occasions. Ever since he became the Minister in the Modi cabinet, Mr. Rane taking on Uddhav and his family members.
During his visit to flood-affected areas in Raigad and Ratnagiri, Narayan Rane had lashed out at state government officials for their proximity with the Chief Minister and ignoring elected representatives of other parties.
A few months back, Mr. Rane leveled charges against Aaditya Thackeray, son of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, for his alleged role in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case.
Junior Thackeray has denied any links with the case, the CBI also didn't find anything against the minister in their investigation.
During his Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Mumbai as a part Centre program, Mr. Rane has made slapping remarks against Uddhav Thackeray for his ignorance about a year of India’s Independence.

Sources said that even Chief Minister’s office did not aware of the sudden development regarding filing FIR against Rane and it was ended up his arrest. It was the idea of Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Anil Parab, who suggested filing an FIR against the outspoken Union minister for his objectionable remarks against Shiv Sena supremo and the Chief Minister.
Many FIRs were filed against Mr. Rane in a different part of the state. Shiv Sena karyakarthas are demanding the resignation of Mr. Rane for his statement against the chief minister.
After his arrest by Mumbai police, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Valse Patil met Uddhav Thackeray. Later in the evening jurisdictional court has granted condition bail to Mr. Rane.
However, political thinkers said that the case will not stop here. It will lead to a fresh political confrontation between the Centre and the state. Constitutional experts say that the arrest of a Union minister for a small offense would affect the federal structure.
