Kultar Singh Sandhwan elected Speaker of Punjab Assembly, portfolios allocated to ministers
Chandigarh: Kultar Singh Sandhwan is unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann proposed the name of Sandhwan as the Speaker which was seconded by Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema. Sandhwan is the MLA representing the Kotkapura Assembly Constituency. He won from Kotkapura in 2017, 2022 elections.
Inderbir Singh Nijjer was Protem Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, ahead of the session scheduled from March 17 to 22. Nijjer has been elected AAP MLA from Amritsar South. He is the president of Chief Khalsa Diwan.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann keeps the Home Department of the state. Harpal Cheema was appointed as the state's Finance Minister, Education Ministry is allocated to Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Dr Vijay Singla was appointed as the Health Minister, Harjot S Bains is the Law & Tourism Minister.
Dr Baljit Kaur will be the Minister of Social Security, Women & Child Development, Harbhajan Singh ETO will be the Power Minister, Lal Chand Kataruchak to get the Food & Supply Dept, Kuldip Singh Dhaliwal to be the Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj.
Laljit Singh Bhullar was appointed as the Transport Minister & Brahm Shankar Zimpa Water as well as the Disaster Ministry.
