Uncle Randhir Kapoor suffering from dementia, says Ranbir
Randhir Kapoor is well known for his roles in Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Jeet, Jawani Diwani, Lafange, and Raampur Ka Lakshman Haath Ki Safai.
Mumbai: Bollywood veteran actor Randhir Kapoor is suffering from dementia, said his his nephew, actor Ranbir Kapoor during a TV interview. While told this to the anchor while he was talking about his father’s recent movie Sharmaji Namkeen.
"After the film, my uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is in the early stages of dementia, came to me and said, 'Tell dad that he is fantastic, and where is he, let's call him.'" Medical disorders are transcended by art... And good storytelling captures it," Ranbir told the TV channel.
"The show must go on - you've all heard it, but I've seen my father live it. He said they were considering using VFX or he using protesthic to fulfill the part which his father yet to be completed. “We were concerned that the film would not be completed after his death. We considered using VFX or having me wear prosthetics to fulfil the part, but nothing worked out. It was a difficult time for all of us. That's when Mr. Paresh Rawal came in. It was quite kind of him to accept this challenge."
Randhir Kapoor is the eldest son of Raj Kapoor, the iconic actor and filmmaker. Within a year, he lost both of his younger brothers, Rishi Kapoor (67) and Rajiv Kapoor (58). Rishi Kapoor died two years ago on April 30 after a two-year fight with cancer, while Rajiv Kapoor died in February of last year after suffering a heart attack. Raj Kapoor died in 1988, and his wife Krishna Raj Kapoor died in 2018.
