Mahant Narendra Giri death: Body sent for post-mortem, SIT to probe death case
Prayagraj: President of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, Mahant Narendra Giri's body has been sent to Swaroop Rani Nehru Medical College for a post-mortem on Wednesday.
Prayagraj Police has constituted a Special Investigative Team (SIT) to probe the case of Giri's death.
"A case under section 306 of IPC (Abetment of suicide) has been registered against (disciple) Anand Giri, whose name also surfaces in the suicide note in Mahant Narendra Giri's death case. The probe is underway. Anand Giri was taken into police custody, " Prashant Kumar, ADG L&O, told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath paid last respects to President of Mahant Narendra Giri, at his Baghambari Math located residence.
"Several pieces of evidence have been collected regarding the incident. A team of senior police officials incl ADG Zone, IG Range, DIG Prayagraj is investing the case," said CM Yogi Adityanath.
Mahant Narendra Giri reportedly died by suicide on Monday. He was found dead at his Baghambari Math located residence. News agency ANI reported that an FIR has been registered against his disciple Anand Giri under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide). The FIR has been registered on the basis of the complaint filed by another disciple Amar Giri Pawan Maharaj.
