Mega rally of Congress in Bangaluru as Mekedatu Padayatra ends
All the big leaders of the party of the State and some of the central leaders are also expected to participate in the event.
Bengaluru: The State Congress is all set to show its strength at the National College ground in Bengaluru on Thursday evening as it has completed Padayatra (walk) launched to demand the immediate implementation of the Mekedatu project.
All the big leaders of the party of the State and some of the central leaders are also expected to participate in the event.
The Congress, which is raising the issue with assertiveness, wants to send the message that the BJP has not taken up the project even when there are no legal hurdles in its implementation.
The Congress leaders including KPCC Chief D. K. Shivakumar and Former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah have been accusing the State BJP government of showing a lethargic attitude towards the project even though BJP is ruling at the Centre also.

“ The BJP has no will to implement the project, otherwise there is no reason to delay it. When we were in power, we got a Detailed Project Report prepared”, said Siddaramaiah.
It may be noted that the Congress resumed its Padayatra on Sunday after it was halted in January as per the order of the High Court. The Court had flayed the Government for permitting to hold the rally during the Covid pandemic.
The March was launched under the title Namma Neeru, Namma Hakku ( Our water our right). The Congress leaders covered nearly 80 kilometres from Ramanagara district to reach Bengaluru as part of the protest.
With the mega rally, Congress is said to be preparing the party for the coming assembly polls scheduled next year.
