Mumbai Rains: City Records Second Highest Rainfall Since 2005, More Showers Likely In Next Five Days
Mumbai Rains: Mumbai is expected to experience more rainfall over the next four to five days, according to the meteorological agency, after more than 300 mm of rain fell in six hours beginning at 1 AM on Monday, inundating large areas of India's commercial city and affecting suburban rail and aircraft services.Monday's rainfall was the city's second-highest since July 26, 2005, when Mumbai received a record rain of 944 mm.
“Mining and manufacturing sectors (in Maharashtra) may be affected as is the case every monsoon,” said Sakshi Gupta, principal economist at HDFC Bank.
"There was barely any impact on business and banking as most have digital flexibility created during the covid-19 pandemic. Only physical deposits can be affected if it continues downpouring," Gupta added.
